Need help - which potty should I get my 6 month old?

OK, Wise Mamas, please tell me what potty I need to get for my 6 month old.  He has severe reflux, and holding him to poop is making it worse.  I think sitting on a comfortable potty may help.  Right now we have a small plastic one, and the poor little guy is so uncomfortable on it I just can't make him use it!

So, what potty do/did you have for your 6 month old, and why do you like it?

Have you tried a potty turtleneck on your little potty?  It made a big difference for my almost 4-month-old.

Great idea!  I am sure that will help.  I know I need to get a more comfortable potty, though.  His little bottom has no where to sit on the one that I have.  It is even narrower than this one http://www.ikea.com/ca/en/catalog/products/70141228 with no back support at all.

Do you mind sharing the brand of potty you use for your 4 month old?  Thanks!

I use a Baby Bjorn little potty for him and hold him to support him up on it.  We currently use it on top of the changing table so it is a comfortable height for me.

Oh, also I put a mirror in front of it so he can see himself and me, and I sing silly songs to him while he uses it.

can he sit unassisted? I don't think too many potties really give "back support" b/c most people don't start potty learning until WAYYY past when that is an issue.

we just had the ikea and BBLPs, which were fine, but my LO could sit alone by 4m. Before that I just kind of held her under her arms in a sitting position on there. There is the bigger baby bjorn potty, like 2-pieces, which has a bit of a back, but IME the two piece potties are difficult to really keep clean (too many crevices for the pee to get into).

He doesn't sit unassisted yet, so he needs something with a little support. Do you like the BBLP?

I can hold him under his arms, but need something that he can sit on, rather that 'perch' on as he can't balance yet. He's really tall for his age, with a skinny butt, so perhaps something with a wider seat may work? Does anyone use those small seats to put on an adult toilet with little ones?

I'm tight for money right now so I'd rather not buy a new potty without having a good idea that it will work.

we started with the BBLP when DD was 9 months, so she could sit by herself, but she was incredibly tiny for her age (less than 14 lbs) and she didn't have any issues with falling in. I don't think it would be too hard to support a younger baby on, and we got ours for about $11, they're not a very big expense compared to a lot of potties out there.
