Older baby swaddle? Weighted blanket? Ideas?

Background:

My youngest is 10 months, and has been referred to a chromosomal specialist (appointment in late december) due to some odd traits.  He has a parent with AS, and an older brother with PDD-NOS and Sensory Integration Disorder, however, he is very different than his older brother was at that age.  Older brother with PDD slept in a swing for almost his whole first year (the only kid of 4 to even really use a swing) while this little guy sleeps just fine flat on his back and has since birth.  He also is motor delayed compared to his older brother, we're told he has low tone, and he sticks his hands up and obsessively clenches/unclenches his hands ALL DAY which is something older brother never did.  It's so bad that he won't even attempt to push up from his tummy or hold himself up on the edge of furniture because then his hands wouldn't be free to wrench around in the air.

Anyway, with all of my other kids we stopped swaddling after a month or so because they seemed to grow out of it and consider it restricting.  We figured that would happen here, but we've been swaddling him pretty often even now.  The problem, is that he's getting too big to have it done with a blanket alone, but he gets angry ALL NIGHT every time he gets his little paws free.  He will actually bat at his face in his sleep all night, leaving scratches, and pulling out his binky.  He still eats during the night, but on a bad night he will also start fussing due to the face battering several times.  On nights where we succeed at strapping him down tight, he's happy and asleep all night unless his tummy wakes him.

Are there any options for swaddling older special needs kids?  What about a weighted blanket?  We never had this exact issue before, but I hear the blankets talked about here frequently.  He's big for his age so most swaddle outfits won't fit at this point.  Any other ideas for keeping his hands out of his face at night?  We've even tried using the mittens to at least stop the scratching but they always come off on his face in the middle of the night which just makes him even angrier.

how about using similar material to a wrap to swaddle him?

just cut the material to size?

Hello. I know halo makes a sleep sack that has a sack for the baby and then separate wings that velcro across the arms. It separates from the main sack and I bet you could just use the velcro wings for the upper part. The back might be a bit scratchy though as it is designed to velcro to the main part so I'd just cover it with some fabric.

I use the swaddle me blanket for my son but he gets out of it all the time. He is 7 months. I have a weighted blanket but it doesn't seem to do much at this point it doesn't stay on him in the swing.  Also he's swaddled so he's already warm so when I put that on it over heats him.

His neuro said to give him liquid Melatonin since he wakes every 10-30 min and that has been helping.  I find it upsetting because he bats at his head with his thumb over and over esp when eating.

I feel for you. I understand and think it's so hard to watch him go through all that.
