19 month old DD likes long snuggles in the middle of the night but also likes her space at other times. When she's up against me, she's warm and actually often gets pretty sweaty, but then she rolls away from me, and it's really hard to keep covers on her. She likes to roll into our sidecarred crib, but we don't have the same covers in there.
Â
This is what I've tried:
-Throwing a corner of our covers over her. This works moderately well if she doesn't get too far into the crib, but if I'm not careful, I'll uncover DH trying to keep DD warm.
Â
-Putting her between us. This also works moderately well, but we have less space in the bed, and the covers don't really snuggle around her as well since she's not as wide as her mother and father on either side of her.
Â
-Throwing her own blankets over her. This does not work very well. Her own blankets feel different, and she rolls too much to stay under them. She's just cold all night.

I mostly do a combination of the first 2, but I don't think she's staying warm enough. At least that's my theory on why she has been waking up and crying every 30-60 minutes the last couple nights. She doesn't do it at nap, and she doesn't do it when I put all the covers around her when I get up in the morning and then throw a couple extra blankets on top.
Â
I'm trying to figure out if I could dress her more warmly, though she'll get hot while she's up against me. Right now, she's in a long sleeved shirt and pants. We had a wool sleep sack last year that was supposed to last a couple years, but she's crazy tall, so it doesn't work this year. I'm really not a fan of synthetic/fire retardant kids pajamas, but waking up cold all night is no good either.
Â
I'm also wondering if there's a way to give her her own covers more similar to what we have on our bed. We just have a flannel sheet and a thick wool blanket. Does anybody know of any organic covers that tuck into the bottom of a crib just like normal covers? She's old enough that she's pretty able to defend herself from covers, and I'm right there checking on her every time she moves, so I can make sure it's not over her head. Thoughts?
