Why won't it fit?

We seem to be having difficulty installing a Radian RF-ing behind the driver's seat in our '10 Honda Ody and while still leaving room for the driver.

Any suggestions about what we are doing wrong?  Any reccs for a seat that would work?

We have twins so need to put a seat behind the driver.

No good ideas for you.. .but we have a Jetta and our car seat makes the front passenger seat completely unusable. I wonder if there are some seats that take less space?

Pretty much any seat will take up less room than the radian. 

How old is the child you are installing the seat for?  If older, you can try to install it more upright, but that might not be possible with the radian.  Any other car seat you can much more easily install more upright.  You do that by pressing down where the child's feet go while tightening.

I'm not terribly familiar with the Odyssey (I have a Sienna), but at least in my van you can slide the captain's chairs back and forth.  If yours adjust, have you tried pushing them all the way back?

It won't fit because... well... Radians are SUPERHUGE in terms of front-to-back space!! They have their other awesome advantages (and I own 2 of them myself!) but that's the biggest drawback.

Other seat recommendations will vary depending on the age and weight of your twins.

Could you put one of the seats in the third row? I know someone who did this & then they would put the child in from the back hatch door over the seat back.

We could experiment with putting someone in the third row (I believe one seat there has latch), but it will be terribly inconvenient in terms of our cargo space.

I was interested in the Radian, because the girls are long and I would like to do extended RF -- they are almost 8 months, @29-30 inches, and 18 and 19 pounds. 

I am open to any suggestions -- they have almost outgrown their infant seats, so things are getting a bit urgent (and my store coupons are about to expire!).

The Complete Air is just as tall (if not taller) than the Radians and also have a 40lb RF limit. They can be installed MUCH more upright than the Radians and take up significantly less front to back space. The LX versions have a base where you can adjust recline, but with the regular you may have to use pool noodles or a rolled towel to adjust the angle.

Like the PP said, the CA is great for a tall child and installed more upright should workfine in your van.

Anyone know if the CA would work RF in a regular-sized car or small SUV (i.e. behind the drivers' seat, with enough room for the driver to actually fit)?

We have a 23mo and are expecting #2 in May, and would like to keep both rear-facing for as long as possible. DH thinks we're just going to need to get a minivan or super huge SUV, but I'd like to avoid that if possible.

I can get the CA in my tiny Nissan Versa with a 6'5" driver so I'm sure it could fit in other bigger vehicles. It fits because of how upright I can install it. Plus I taught my dh to drive more upright, which is safer for him too!

I have an 06 Odyssey (same body style) and a RF radian behind the driver's seat. Is the seat the radian is on slid back all of the way? If I slide that seat back all of the way I can slide my seat back all of the way.

I'd go for the Complete Air.  I have one RF in my BMW X5 for my 5yo, who is too tall for the Radians but still has plenty of room in the CA.
