When to test?

How many days past ovulation should you test?  I know it takes 6-12 days for the egg to implant and an additional couple days for it to produce enough HCG to show up on a test.  I know some tests are early detection and I got some of those.  I know some people get positive tests really early, but when t the average early time to take one?  I was thinking maybe 10 dpo?  What do you think?  I don't want to be obsessive.   We are flying home on Thanksgiving day and I would super love to find out before we leave.  That day would likely be about 14 dpo.

The early tests claim to detect five days before your missed period, which they are assuming would be 10dpo (under the assumption women have a 14 day lp).  So 10dpo is reasonable for the early tests.  I tend to try to wait until 12 or 13dpo, just to be safe, but 10 is reasonable, I think.  Good luck!

Hi!

I have a box of FRERs upstairs and I am going crazy wanting to take one and I am only 8 DPO! It's so hard to hold out, but it's seriously more economical and mentally better to try and wait at least until the day that AF is due

I always start testing by 10 DPO - but just know that a negative at that point doesn't mean game over.  Best of luck!!

Thanks guys!  We literally just started trying.  I can't tell you how excited I am.  We would rather find out while we are still at home so it's just the two of us.  Aside from being excited and wanting it to happen, I really just want to find out before we fly off.  We want to enjoy it for a day or two with just us.  If not, oh well.  I bought some cheapy tests online that got great reviews figuring I wouldn't waste money testing early...turns out they won't arrive until the 17th-22nd so maybe I will try to hold out until then...well the 17th would definitely be too early.  Thanks guys!
