Suggestions for a trimmer prefold/fitted?

We currently mostly use Bummis organic cotton prefolds with Bummis super brite and whisper wrap covers. We also use flips sometimes and some baby kanga pockets. We're happy with our covers and pockets but the prefolds are SO bulky. They barely fit under most clothes and appear to be very uncomfy for DD as she's learning to walk. Are the cloth-eez prefolds significantly smaller?

Any suggestions on trimmer options? We are in Canada so some options may not be available to us.

The most trim diaper for under a cover would be a hemp/cotton blend.  They do have a couple of downsides though: They are majorly pricey and they start very soft but end up pretty scratchy after about ten washes.  If her diaper is not fitting under her clothes I would recommend sizing up, or shopping in the boy's stuff.  I only ever hear parents of girls with this issue for some reason.

How are you folding them? I did a bikini twist for the trimmest fit. It's also especially good with girls because it puts a lot of layers in the crotch area.

And yea, with cloth diapers you usually need to size up clothing a little sooner. I never found it to be a significant issue.

Oh, and I don't think it's a problem as far as learning mobility. Throughout history babies wore bulky, cloth diapers, not thin disposable ones. Humans have been able to walk just fine for.... well, forever.

We're folding in thirds. I will try the twist fold, I haven't tried that yet.

We do buy larger sizes but then pants are very, very long and don't stay folded up. Not a huge deal, we can continue to work with it smile.gif

I also reccomend trying either the bikini twist or the boy fold. With the boy fold, the diaper gets folded lenghtwise rather than crosswise making it a bit narrower between the legs. That's why I love using prefolds so much. The versatility is something you don't get with anything else. I have changed the way we use them numerous times as my son's needs have changed over time.  And don't worry about the mobility thing. Children around the world have been in prefold type diapers for centuries so I'm pretty sure it doesn't hinder movement too much. Good luck !
