So DS has had a cold since about October 5, which was right around when we all got sick. Snotty nose and coughing. He had a fever for a few days over Halloween. He's fine otherwise, alert and mostly happy. His doc saw him the week before the fever and said just keep doing what we're doing, but he's not getting better. He is always congested and coughing. We have a humidifier, we use saline in his nose and we use the nose freida to clear it. Is there such a thing as baby decongestant? What else can I do? I'm assuming this isn't normal for the poor thing to be sick for a month, right? He's 14 weeks.

Thanks Marina. Good to know others have been through it at least. I think we will call his doc tomorrow and see what she says. His cough sounds just like the bronchitis I've suffered with most of my life, poor thing. We did get the generic of vicks baby rub, but it says not to use it under 6 months. So we've just had the waterless vaporizer & a humidifier going at night and using the saline on his nose. My MIL was here this weekend & she was so distressed by his screaming when getting his nose sucked out by the nose freida. Now it's missing and I wonder...

Yeah, DS hates having his nose sucked out too. I found that the Nose Freida is much more gentle than the conventional suction bulb (i tried both). Hope you find it or get it back. Talking to your doc is a very good idea, hope she'll recommend some good ways of keeping him more comfortable and hope he gets better soon. I think we dodged the bullet here, DS had a fever for 3 days and an ear ache but with lots of sleep and rest he's definitely getting better. ![]()

No advice here, but sympathy.... DD (almost 8 months) has been sick for a month too. Cough, congestion, poor sleeping... it seems to ebb and flow, too. I thought she was finally getting better but then two days ago got really congested all over again. We're in the same routine of saline, nosefrieda, humidifiers, etc. and she *still* can't breathe!

sorry to hear your LO is sick. My coughs usually last forever once I get them, so I sympathize. Unfortunately I don't have any advice, DS had a snotty nose for a month as well and is now officially sick with a cold.
