Is there a huge growth spurt at around 12 mo? What is going on!?

I am so exhausted!! My DS is almost 12 mo now. He does eat some small amounts of solid food, but mostly he would rather nurse. I would say at least 90% of his intake is BM, and he nurses frequently through the day, which I am totally fine with.

We had just barely, FINALLY got on a decent bedtime routine/sleep schedule a few weeks ago. Now this week all of a sudden, he is back to night waking every 2 hrs or so to nurse. And its not sleepy nursing, which I would also be fine with because I can sleep through that, it is vigorous, serious nursing, which keeps me awake. He seems to be asleep though this, but every time I try to pull away or pop him off ( we do the NCSS ) he panics, and his eyes fly open, and he flails his arms and gasps... I give him back the breast and he resumes his vigorous nursing, and its almost in a panic, relief sort of way...

If he needs this extra milk, then he needs it. But I am SOOOO tired. I dont think I have had any deep sleep at all for the past week, and I feel like I am functioning in a fog. My DH works a 12 hr night shift, so he cant watch DS for me during the day. I dont even really  know what I need right now.. advice, or just someone to tell me its normal and ok, and it will get better

is he walking yet? DD had a huge increase in nursing at 12 months, and then suddenly started walking (went from 2-3 steps to walking all over the house). could also be teeth or growth.

Yes he just started walking on his own a week ago.

And the poor LO is always teething, he hasnt had a break since it started, he has 8 so far.

sounds like he may need the extra calories because he's walking now, especially since it sounds like he started walking at the same time the nursing increased. he's probably increasing your supply to accommodate his greater needs now that he's toddling. I would expect that he'll even back out in the next week.
