We had an eligibility meeting for our DS with the public school. He is 2.5 yrs old and currently in occupational/speech therapy. We've had him evaluated by a developmental specialist (who thinks he's mildy Autistic), his regular pediatrician (said the same) and now we've been told that for a 3rd time. It was a bit disheartening. I didn't really know how to respond because to  me there is "something" special about my son, I just don't know what it is, so to have specifics is just hard.

As far as testing (he had been evaluated for things like OT/Speech Therapy, IEP ect), he did really well overall. I think. He is lacking in verbal communication and social skills. He doesn't talk a whole lot at all, maybe a word here and there, but nothing consistant. They said that while he is lacking in those areas, he's above the mark in others. We've been encouraged to get him tested for Autism (via ADOS) so that we (us and the school) can better pin point ways to help him. Someone even recommended we go to a support group for parents with Autism.

I just thought I'd give you all a bit of an update, seeing as you were so supportive/sweet when I first posted. :)
