HSG on Monday. And am on Letrozole this time around...supposedly same effect as clomid, with less side effects. I can confirm the less side effects, but not so sure about whether it worked or not. :LOL Then just sex, depending on what the HSG shows. Might try an IUI here in the next couple of months.

My allergies are going nuts though and I want to take allergy pills, but they just screw up my cycle.

Adinal I have my twins from a succesful ivf.

Good luck to all who may being doing ivf. Personally, the whole experience was a lot easier than I ever expected. My dh was great at doing the shots. The worst part was the mental stress after the transfer until we found out we were pg.

Looks like I will be doing cycle #2 in a couple of months (see my thread 3/28/04). Good Luck!

I had to do six full IVF cycles in order to get my dd.

For the first few cycles I tried to "optimize" my chances with healthy eating, extra protein, etc.

Finally, I said forget it and ate what I want. The sixth cycle I did what I want when I wanted, and ate whatever sounded good.

Pregnant!

Infertility has nothing to do with your diet, and your IVF chances do not change with a good diet.

An IVF cycle has about a 30% Chance nationwide to succeed. That means that for every hundred cycles attempted, 70 folks will have a BFN.

Good Luck.

IVF

Hey Jenn,
I'm looking at a late April/early May IVF too. Really scared, nervous, but don't want to regret never trying. Best of luck to you.

Our RE clinic has the highest success rates in the US and he has given us a 75% success rate with a 40% chance of twins... I guess that just means it may be a good idea to shop around for a clinic with high success rates. as 30% is really low compared to 75%

Good luck to all of us

My statistical quote was a Nationwide average, which takes into consideration all clinics and cycles that were reported.

I am not saying this about your clinic...but many clinics will turn down patients who they think are a bad risk to their numbers, in order to beef up their success. It happened to us.

We also had a clinic quote a 60 % chance of success. When the stats came out for that year, theirs were actually only about 30%.

Statistical information can be misleading.

Good Luck. I hope you fall into the lucky crowd. What clinic do you go to? If it is the one in Colorado I am thinking of, you are in great hands. I know several folks who had dismal outlooks and repeated failures travel there to have success.

Good Luck.

I'm going to CCRM, with Dr Schoolcraft... Pretty sure it's the one you are thinking of

Yup...that is the clinic. I wish you the best of luck with your cycle...is this your first cycle?

Yes my insurance doesn't cover it so we can only afford to do two maybe 3 fresh IVF cycles.

Just a lurker dropping by (and veteran of 4 fresh, 1 frozen IVFs to get my twins) to agree with Suzetta. I did everything right the first four times for BFNs; as things progressed I just lived my life and got pg. Unfortunately, there's nothing you can do except follow your instructions to improve the chances. I have seen people really turn themselves inside out and it doesn't help, really. OTOH, if it makes you feel better to do stuff like minor dietary modifications, then great. Just be careful not to let it get obsessive--that's a very common thing and it just adds stress to an already stressful situation.

But I also wanted to make a comment about the stats. I too was given very strong odds early on--I was 30 years old and had been pregnant before (losses), and had good FSH. But it took me many tries as you see. The stats quoted for you are not the stats for your clinic--you can look those up online (google SART IVF statistics--I don't have the link handy). They're your doctor's best guess at your personal chances based on your age, reproductive history, and the assumed cause of your infertility. It sounds like your chances of having a baby with IVF are really great, and if you're in it for 3 cycles, you will almost certainly conceive. And yes, Schoolcraft's clinic is world-class.

Good luck with your cycle...here's hoping it's a one-shot deal for you!

I just wanted to stop by and wish you the best of luck! We had IVF for our son and if we aren't pg this cycle we will be moving on to FET ASAP. The only diet mod I did was to stay away from caffine. I just did the things you do when you are trying to get pg naturally. No drinking, caffeine, etc.

I too agree about the stats. Really a clinics stats means nothing. Like it was said, some clinics take everyone, some are VERY selective so it isn't really reliable. What is are the chances he gave you!(which sound really awesome!) We were given a 40% chance. I was 23 DH 22, nver pg, but I have stage 3 endo and PCOS. I stimmed very well and still have 9 embies in storage.

I hope that this first round will do the trick for you! Post back here and let us know.

Jenn,
Just wanted you to know I am thinking of you, and you are in my prayers I had been ttc for 7 years and finally did IVF/ICSI in Dec 03, My first attempt, thankfully, worked and I have a beautiful daughter. I am thinking about doing it again in Dec. this year if I can get financing, my ins doesn't cover it. Have you ever gone to IVF Connections BB? It was alife saver for me.

Good luck. We got pregnant on our first ivf cycle. We are doing a frozen cycle right now with a transfer on the 30th. The are giving us a 40% right now but it could be higher/lower depending on the quality when defrosted.

How's it going Jenn? I thought of you today when I was down at Conceptions doing my IUI.

Actually I am still seeing Dr. Alvero. I am working with an embryologist down at conceptions, who happens to be a family friend. SO I am sort of split clinics right now. And ti went well, a little cramping but not too bad. One my way down for another one right now!
