Firstly, I'd like to say a huge thank you, to all those who have taken the time to read and reply to my posts, THANK YOU.
Â
Secondly, some of you may remember my son, D, who needs FOUR fillings.
We still have no clear diagnosis as to which ASD he has and therefore I was concerned over how he would have ONE, let alone FOUR fillings.
His teeth have got so bad, he's constantly in pain.
Friday (yesterday) he was in clear agony ALL day long.
None-the-less, he went to School and when I picked him up, his teacher mentioned he had been complaining of tooth ache a bit.
So, Instead of calling the dentist to be fobbed off, we went there!Â
I took D in, we told them about his problem and that he needs to be seen sooner rather than later.
D is nearly 6 years old.
The receptionist went off and then came back, saying the dentist would see him and that to take a seat.
45 Minutes later we were called in, but not before D fell asleep on me after crying he was in pain and a full waiting room staring at us!
He went in, took the seat and he showed her which tooth was hurting.
She then gave him like a little long white thing with pink gel on to HOLD between his teeth.
He was relectant at this.
It tasted awful, (I think) and he was already starting to become clearly aggitated.
She then waited for that to numb the area I think, then gave the injection.
It seemed to take forever, D was on top of me, and I had to hold his head :(
After a while, it was done and he had a HUGE lump on his cheek where it had gone into the gum, the gum had swollen.
By now, he was not only aggitated but refusing to let her near him (I don't blame him, it must be scary!)
We rubbed his cheek to get the anaesetic working.
He still refused to let her near him, Screaming he wanted his Daddy (That hurt me!!!), so anyway, We went out to the car park, got daddy and the whole family in (That's 2 9 month old twins, 2 year old and 4 year old!)
He went back in, with Daddy, Who he wanted and I was outside with the rest of the children, All I could hear was him screaming and moaning, I was in bits.
I snuck back in to the room to see how he was getting on - He hadn't let her touch him!
The lady tried again, we were all trying to convince him that he needed the tooth 'fixed' because of the pain (but by now, the anaesetic had taken affect so he wasn't feeling the pain!!)
Finally, we came to the conclusion, he couldn't be awake for it and I put on my post here the other week, I generally knew that, Being his Mother he wouldn't stick one, let alone 4 fillings.
So the plan is now, He's going back to see the dentist on Tuesday, and she's refering him up to Bristol.
They will NOT be doing FILLINGS.
They will be removing about SEVEN teeth under a general anaesetic.
Â
I feel relieved that he won't be stressed and traumatised by it, but at the same time, it's his THIRD general anaesetic and surely, this is all going to be more traumatising for him?
To loose SEVEN teeth, RIGHT before his BIRTHDAY too ... Plus we've already had dealings with Bristol hospital so it's going to flood back even more memories for me, and for those that know, it's something I have been struggling with now for some months.
Â
I am scared, anxious and feel sorry for my lad, I thought it was best to keeo you all informed as to what's happening.
