Looking for Homebirth Resources in MI

Hi!  I am new to MDC and I am looking for some good homebirth resources in Michigan.  I am in Livingston County, but Ann Arbor is not far from us.  I have found the names of a few CPMs in the area but would love some personal recommendations.  Thanks in advance!

We had http://newmoonmidwifery.com/ and they were super great!  Very kind, earthy and friendly.  We lived in Ypsi at the time but my inlaws live in Pickney- so that is not too far.  I think they serve all that area.

Hey, and welcome!  I used Yolanda Visser of Birthsong Midwifery out of Grand Rapids. Sounds like you'd be a bit far, but she was awesome.  love.gif

I have used New Moon before and can vouch for them. Perfect midwifery services.

I have also heard very good things about Stacia. www.trilliumbirthservices.com

The Michigan midwifery website might help too http://michiganmidwives.org/

Thank you all so much!  Has anyone used Beth Barbeau in Ann Arbor?

Crayon - I grew up in Pinckeny and we are actually moving back to the area soon!

I had a very good experience with both Kate Mazzara and Stacia.

I've never attended a birth with her, but I've heard only good things about Beth Barbeau.

I would recommend New Moon Midwifery as well. They delivered by new baby girl this past August. I was very pleased.

I'd also like to pipe in with support for New Moon!  They were professional, warm, wise...  wonderful practice!  They assisted with both of my births.

I have worked with Kate and Stacia- both are amazing. Stacia is out of Ann Arbor and Kate is out of Howell, so I think that both would service your area.

Sorry to bump this, but given that I just had my babe at home, I wanted to share...

I personally would not go with Beth Barbeau. I'll leave it at that; PM if you want the nitty-gritty. Having said that...

Pat Kramer all the way! joy.gif She's amazing, as low- or high-intervention as you're comfortable with, and her doula Michelle is the sweetest, most hilarious thing on two legs. I had the best experience imaginable, with them, and was cared for beyond anything I expected - and I had a pretty easy pregnancy overall (emotional stuff notwithstanding)

Let me know if you want Pat's contact info  smile.gif

Is Pat Kramer still practicing? I thought she'd retired long ago. She actually delivered me....

Sorry, OT, but I am curious.

I also want to recommend Amanda Topping.  She just reopened her practice, so she doesn't show up on a lot of midwifery searches:

Yep, Pat's still practicing - has a lovely office on the northwest-ish side of Ann Arbor, very prompt with phone calls, attentive, just the bee's knees. Plus, she was great with my depression/anxiety issues. I 100% believe I had a successful birth because of her support and her belief that *I* could do it - not that 500 different interventionist steps were needed. Her focus was on giving me the birth I wanted. Can't say enough great things about her and her assistant - who, BTW, did a stellar job scouring out my bathroom and my towels! It looked like I committed murder in there. :)

Her assistant, Michelle, is incredibly well-educated, familiar with current medical standards as well as homeopathic/natural-care methods, and does a great job presenting both sides neutrally. They really allow you to direct your own process, what you want, need, etc. Really, I will stop tooting their horn!  :-)

I know that I am posting this months later, but:

I used Pat Kramer for my first 2 & had a fabulous experience. I am pg with #3 & of course, who else would I go with? I agree: Pat Kramer all the way!!!joy.gif

I agree with SquidMommy. I would not go with Beth Barbeau.
