Milk Blister

Thread Starter

Any advice on how to get rid of the hole left after the milk blister skin pulls off.  I have had the hole and pain associated with it for 5 weeks now.

I have tried salt water soaks, lansinoh, organic virgin coconut oil.

Are you talking about a hole (ulceration) on your nipple/breast? The only hing I've heard referred to as a milk blister is on baby's top lip...

An ulceration on your breast is NOT normal.  I had one last baby during a lengthy battle with thrush - it was 1cm by 0.5cm and full-thickness. When I finally went to a derm about it, she was concerned my nipple might actually come off if I didnt stopnursing that side. She prescribed Biafine (often used for burns) and I pumped for five weeks while it healed.  If you have an open sore on your breast and continue to nurse, it might not heal.

How big is it?  (and for the PP, milk blister = milk bleb http://www.kellymom.com/bf/concerns/mom/nipplebleb.html )
