Somewhere on the ASD - Special School Needed?

Has anyone here got a child on the ASD who requires a special needs school?

I am worried that my near 6 year old son needs special care and attention in order to learn.

He's already been kept back a year, I will mentioning it to the School soon, but fear I will be fobbed off with excuses etc.

You might get more responses in the special needs parenting sub-forum (it's in the parenting forum.)

My nephew goes to a school specifically for students with high function ASD.  It has been really great for him.  The academic challenge is appropriate for the above average academic ability that is common with ASD, but the work load is not over whelming or too much for those that have a hard time handling frustration.  Quirky behaviors are accepted by both faculty and other students.  Wearing sweat pants every day do to sensory needs is perfectly acceptable.  Etc, etc.

I would start by finding out what schools are available in your area.

Is your location correct?  Most of the moms on this board are in the US, a few are in Canada. I don't know anything about how the system works in the UK.
