Boy who cried wolf...or pregnant woman who thinks she's in labor

I don't know about you guys, but I am officially 37 weeks in two days and now every little thing that I feel, I'm thinking "::gasp!:: am I in labor??" IT'S DRIVING ME INSANE!!

In fact, I have been googling "how do you know if your water broke" because I woke up with more than just the normal "discharge" if you will. (Just to be clear, I am still wondering if my water broke because I am insane).

How do you guys cope with this?? I get too excited at the possibility and I am losing sleep over these things. grrrr

At the moment I'm trying my best to ignore the signs, lol.  I thought my water might have been leaking yesterday when I accidentally sat in a small puddle... then I realized my underwear was still dry.

It's making me a little crazy too.  Every burst of energy or few contractions in a row or cervical twinge....   I wish I had more patience.  I know I don't have much longer to wait, but not knowing whether or not it could be TODAY or 4 WEEKS drives me nuts.

I've been feeling pretty nuts most days.  One day I had an extreme amount of discharge and spent all afternoon rechecking my pad trying to decide if it was amniotic fluid.  Half the time my ctx are putting so much pressure on my cervix I think it has got to be doing something.

Oh my, is it even possible it is time for some of us to go into labor?!?!  With my first, I didn't realize it was labor until my water broke, which was a very large gush, thankfully.

For me, crampiness, loose stool, and an intense need to clean are signs that it is time. I know everyone is different though.

Well the babies could hold on a few more weeks but patience is a quality that isn't always constant.  These babies have to come out eventually but the November DDC isn't making it easy by posting all the cute photos of their newborns.

What I *can* do is make a list of all the days I don't want to go into labor.  thumb.gif

  • Now until the 18th.  DH needs to get home before this baby is born.
  • Nov 24th.  LLL meeting and I need to return a book I borrowed.
  • Nov 25th, Thanksgiving.  We have to pick my mom up from the airport.
  • Nov 28th.  My dad's bday.
  • Dec 2nd.  There's a Christmas party I want to go to.
  • Dec 3rd.  My brother's bday.

Wife of Ant, I love the list of dates not to go in labor.  I remember doing something like this with my first.

Here are mine:

* Before Nov. 21st: DH doesn't come home from business until 11/19 and I have an event on 11/20 and a spa day scheduled 11/21.

* Dec. 3rd: I have a luncheon at Google with female engineers who are interested in becoming mentors in our program!

* Dec. 4th: There's a cool workshop that we're doing at our science studio that I want to observe.

After the 4th, I am ready!  I will be 38 weeks on December 1st and that's my own official, 'this turkey is done' date!

:-)

I'm not full term for another 2 weeks or so, but I definitely have a list of "no way" dates!

  • Before Dec 5:  I won't yet be in the same town as the hospital or midwives. (none in my town)
  • Dec 6-8:  I'll be traveling for a premier of a documentary I'm in, so I still won't be in the same town as the hospital or midwives. (bigger city this time - so there are doctors there)
  • After Dec 22:  I want to have enough time to get my family back to my own town before Christmas.

So yeah.  Baby needs to come between the 9th and 22nd of December (due the 17th).  I hope.

Dates not to go into labor:  not before December 3rd. That is the last day of DH's finals in his grad program. I really, really want him to be done taking his finals, so that he can be there for me fully, and have time off after the baby is born, and not have to study or make up any finals. Definitely not until after Nov 29 when my mom will be back in the country. Due date is the 8th, so I think I have  a pretty good chance of not going into labor until after DH's finals are done. Here's hoping. I hope I don't have to wait until 42 weeks though, because I am already getting impatient to have this baby. So different, than with DS, when I was patient and content to wait. Some of it I think is the anxiety of having a vbac, though.
