Need some OB recommendations--DFW area

Thread Starter

I live in the Dallas metroplex. This is our 4th baby. So excited!. I've had my other three kids at home with wonderful birth experiences. But I've recently had some health issues with my thyroid  and Im 35. I want another homebirth, but just incase I have to deliver in a hospital I'd like the most natural OB/ Midwife possible.  Any recommendations?

My midwife (Dinah Waranch) does both center and home births, and she has a backup OB (Dr. Downey) in Richardson...I have only seen him once for a colposcopy, but I have heard that he's pretty good (and pro-VBAC, yay!)...I have yet to hear anything negative about him, and I trust that my midwife has a similarly minded OB as her backup. I have heard AMAZING things about Dr. Cummings in Denton, but my understanding is that he's very, very booked up and in order to squeeze in you pretty much have to be a special case (VBAMC, breech, twins, combination of the above)...but it wouldn't hurt to try, I guess! I have also heard positive of a few of the OBs/MWs at Baylor in downtown Dallas. My midwife is pretty awesome when it comes to issues...she's very crunchy and doesn't freak out over every little thing like some out-of-hospital MWs do, but she has no problem transferring care or consulting with her OB when absolutely necessary. There are a couple midwives out there, though, that I would recommend against, so PM me if you'd like to know more about that.

I recommend that you go into the "Finding Your Tribe" section and post in the appropriate one for our state.
