Can stopping taking supps cause symptoms this fast?

I've been taking vitamins and other supps (clo, probiotics) regularly for a bunch of weeks. For a bunch of months prior, ds2 had mushy, mucousy poop full of undigested food. After a few weeks on supps it was solid and normal looking, and stayed that way for over a week.

During the same time, I cut out soy for the most part. There was still some soy lecithin, but not much, and no other soy.

He was hospitalized for bronchiolitis for 2 days a week ago. By the end of the 2 days, his poop was mushy and mucousy again (though not as mucousy and full of undigested food as before).

We didn't take any supps in the hospital, and actually I'm still trying to get back on track. We also ate vegetarian stew with what looked like tvp (soy) in the hospital and we've eaten some soy since being back (soy oil in packaged foods, mostly)- very little soy, but it's still there.

Is it possible that not taking the supps would make a difference in 2 days? Or is it more likely soy?

Those are the only two patterns I can see that relate to his poop (which is also related to his headbanging). There aren't any patterns with any other foods, unless it's several foods, which would be harder to see a pattern with.

I should also add that for the last few months, I've had tingling in my feet and lips. After taking the supps regularly for a few weeks, the tingling in my feet stopped, but I still had it in my lips. This past week, I've had some tingling in my feet again. I've though before that it might be helped by supps, but it seems to help within a day or two, and my doctor doesn't seem to think that's possible.

Something else that occurs to me is that about a month ago, ds and I both took some grapefruit seed extract a few times to deal with thrush for him, and a YI for me. Could that have helped his digestion?

I'd guess the soy.  DS's food reactions are quicker if he's at a good place with supps--good balance, generally caught up with dealing with other stuff--but still a food is more likely to cause a downhill slide like that more than a lack of pills.

The tingling--is it a nerve thing, the kind that may be B12 related?  There's probably other stuff that could cause similar things, I just don't know what.

I haven't ever tried GFSE, not sure how quickly it works.  But the kids eating the foods they're intolerant of does mess up their gut balance, I've seen that in both.

Ok, I kinda didn't think that stopping the supps would cause it to get that much worse that quickly.

So now to focus on the soy... It can't be *only* soy, because I stopped eating all traces of soy during my ED with no improvement. It could be a combo of soy and another food(s) or it could be that previously our nutrition was just really out of whack and that was either causing him to react to other foods, or just stopping him from getting better. At that point, after the ED's, his rash improved (and poop wasn't a problem yet) after we started eating a large variety of foods.

My doctor did think it could be b12 related, but I had that tested and my levels were just fine. Plus, the supps I was taking when it seemed to be getting better was calcium+D, and maybe a prenatal vitamin. I HAD taken sublingual b12, but stopped for 6 weeks to test my blood after the x-ray came out fine.

She said it's most likely mechanical and not neurological, because it always happens in the same places.

I was wrong about the soy- I've been eating it all along. I thought I'd checked my bread in the past and found it free of soy, but evidently not. So that means the only pattern is the supps. His poop is improving (two steps forward, one step back type of thing) though, since we started the supps. So either it's that, or it's something unrelated that I'm unintentionally avoiding.

I still do see a pattern with soy sauce in relation to his eczema. I looked up foods with glutamates, and we've strongly suspected lots of foods on the lists. Not sure how likely glutamates are to cuase rashes, but interesting still.
