What is your 8.5 month old eating (solid foods)?

I just need to know that I'm on track and am offering DS the right things.  He's 8.5 months.  Last night for dinner, he had Fusili pasta, apples and some carrots.  He seemed to enjoy most of it while the other half landed in his seat. ;)

What other things could I be offering hiim?  Something that I could cook one night and offer to him for a couple of nights after that.  I'm a WOHM, so I'm also looking for things that I could potentially take to his daycare for his lunch time.  He's still eating purees but that is slowly dwindling away.

Thanks!

my little guy is 9 months old and will not eat any solids.  i've tried a bunch of different stuff, and i let him play with it / hold it etc - all the stuff they tell you and he will do just about everything with it but eat it.

my 8.5 month old is still not eating solids for every meal, or even every day. although we are slowly getting better about that! yesterday she had pureed soup (potato, tofu, carrot, etc) that we were having. today she's had some of my smoothie. the day before that she had some of my black bean burger and some sweet potato fries. basically, she has what we're having. or at least the basic ingredients of what we're having. sounds like you're doing ok. maybe bake up a squash, sweet potato, apple and carrot, slice into big chunks and send a couple pieces each day? or whatever veggies/fruits you're doing.

DD (8 months) eats purees of carrots, sweet potatoes and butternut squash, along with mashed up avocado and well cooked stalks of broccoli. She eats soft-cooked meat, chicken, and salmon. Every day, I also send some plain sheep milk yogurt to her babysitter with her and she loves it, and she's been also been known to go to town on chevre. She also loves soup--she had oxtail soup at our favorite Korean restaurant and loved it. She's also been eating my homemade chicken stock with brown rice, which was leftover from when we had a soup with sausage, kale and rice a few days ago. She just a hard boiled egg for dinner tonight--well, some of it at least. A lot of it ended up on the floor. Oh, and she likes berries, too, but we don't have them very often.

(By the way, I'm a WOHM, too. On the weekend, I'll make a couple of purees by steaming food and mashing it with my stick blender. Then I freeze it in fresh baby "ice cube" trays and have it to pull out for dinner or to send to the babysitter. As far as prep goes, it really only takes about 15-20 minutes and will last all week or longer.)

My 8 month old ds eats purrees of sweet potatoes, peas, green beans, apricots, apples, pears, and mangos.  We've tried a little finger food-bread and strawberries.  He only has two teeth so we're taking it slow.  He also has a tendency to get extremely constipated so I'm washing down a lot of it with prune juice.  Other than the solids, he's breastfed.

At 8 mos, the babe was eating: (purees) bananas, apples, pears, peaches, sweet potatoes, squash, cooked carrots, potatoes, avocados (when affordable) and cooked split peas.  (Like me, he's turned out to be a texture freak, and doesn't like anything "chunky", so BLW is out--I'm NOT waiting until he's 5 to start solids. ;)

No grains other than rice--he appears to be sensitive to wheat so no bread/crackers/etc.  We're vegetarian so no meat.

DD is 8.5 months and she eats solids 1-2 times a day.

Right now it's:

Apples in the mesh feeder

Applesauce

Sweet Potato puree

Spinach puree

Carrots puree or soft cooked chunks

Potato, mashed up

Gerber Puffs

Popcorn - I eat off the hulls (Is that the right word?) and she eats the softer part, she loves this snack!

Pumpkin

Strawberries

Grapes

Raspberries

Banana - not her favorite at all though

Watermelon

Avocado

Black Beans

Corn

Peas

Wow, she's had a lot more than I thought!  We haven't really done dairy yet, except when I sucked on veggies to get the creamy soup off and then fed her the veggies.  We are vegetarian, so she won't be getting meat.

We do BLW, and so far DS typically eats:

toast fingers with butter and banana for breakfast

Lunch : today he had homemade refried beans, a bit of homemade tortilla, chewed on 1/2 a peeled, cored apple. Yesterday it was stew (meat, turnips, potatoes, carrots, peas), half an avocado and tiny chunks of clementine.

Dinner varies, sometimes scrambled eggs, sometimes leftovers (he eats before I make dinner for the rest of us) but it always also includes plain yogurt with some fruit puree added in.

Other foods he eats and likes: fingers of cheese, pears, sweet potatoes, roasted cauliflower, small bits of chicken, mashed potatoes-- he basically eats what we eat, with the size/shape adapted to his age.

He's a much better eater than DS1.

HI there! Ds is 8 months old, and eats pretty much every fruit, and veg, apart from corn, beans, eggs, yoghurt, grain, quinoa, brown rice etc, just about everything just no nuts or honey / refined sugar or meat/fish.

But I am sure he will love nuts when he gets his hands on them in a year or so.

He is a great eater, has 6 teeth already and can demolish a banana so fast!!
