sippy cup question

DD is 14 months. She drinks from a regular cup just fine, but she won't tilt the sippy cup to drink from it, she makes me or DH hold it up for her. Yes, I try to get her to hold it, but she refuses. Is this a phase or is there some other method I can use to get her to tilt the cup herself?? (She has never had a bottle, btw)

Ds did this for awhile. He totally could do it himself but he would even bring us his cup so we could hold it. Used to make me laugh. At one point I just started refusing to hold it & he got over it. But he was a little bit older by then - can't remember how old exactly.

She'll probably figure out how to tilt one soon but there is always the Tilty  http://www.tiltycup.com/

Is it a valved cup? We ended up using a non-valved cup as DD couldn't get the hang of the valve. We also in introduced a straw cup at around your DD's age.

Not sure what a valved cup is. it is a Playtex, the on with the tube in it, she has to tilt it and then suck on it. It is supposed to be spillproof, but it's not really. Thanks for your replies!

If it's spill-proof then it's quite likely valved. Try a non spill-proof one so she can more or less tip the water into her mouth.
