yay! Saw the heartbeat!

I saw the heartbeat today via early u/s!  It was the tiniest little flicker.  Now I really feel like there's another kiddo on the way.  I think a part of me was in denial for some reason.  The Dr. confirmed the edd of 7/7/11.  Anyone else planning on "seeing" their little one?

  Awww!  How far along are you now?  6 weeks?  I am going to try and do a homebirth, so if I want an ultrasound, I have to pay out of pocket.  Although, the midwife told me I could go to a university hospital in the area, and that they have students do them for $25.  I totally want to do that!!  Although I will have to decide when I want to go.

Yes 6w4d.  $25 is not too bad at all.  6 weeks is a good time if you're dying to see *something* because I think you should be far enough along where something is bound to show up.  But the baby is kind of, well, blobby heehe.  Not very exciting to look at.  I think at 8 weeks it starts to look more baby-ish.  You can check images online to get an idea.

Have my ultrasound tomorrow. I will be 7 weeks and 2 days. Had some early spotting so I am nervous and anxious to see that heartbeat.

How wonderful!  I really want to see my little one, but it would cost me $100 and right before Christmas, that's just not really in the budget.  Congratulations to you and your sweet new little one on the way!

I go for my dating ultrasound tomorrow.  Maybe it will help things sink in a little more...  it still doesn't seem real.

Yay for the h/b!!!!

I will go at 7w1d. I am lucky I am on the Austrian standard health insurance and get at least 3 u/s.

If you only get one I would either go at 8w since then they say if everything is ok at 8w0d then the chance of a m/c is strongly reduced- Or go at or around 12 weeks, if you want to get the nuchal fold checked in order to rule out Trisomy 13,18,21...

Unless of course you will take whatever life deals you, thn you do not need one at all!

I had one at 6w0d to make sure baby was in the right place (had two previous ectopics). We were able to pick up the heartbeat too, which was great and my mw said that detecting the hb alone reduces the risk of m/c significantly. The image was a gestational sac, yolk sac, and a flickering heart.

I saw the hb today and it was SO wonderful. It was 150bpm and baby is measuring right on dates. Starting to really feel like I am having a baby!

I'm so happy you all got to see your little ones too.  It really is a reality check isn't it?!
