"Weaning" to own bed...

Do I do it the same as nightweaning?

I've been sleeping on a mattress on the floor for sometime now. DS sleeps in bed with DH. So, I haven't slept in bed with my husband in 6 months at least. DS kicks way too much at this point for me to sleep there comfortably. One kick to the belly and I'm in tears.

Last night we put HIM on the floor and I slept in bed. That lasted about 4.5 hours. When he woke up and fussed DH tried to soothe him back to sleep...with no luck. However, the instant DS hit the big bed he was back out.

I can't keep sleeping on the floor. 1) We're about to have another baby in bed with us and I'd like at least a month or so with my DH. 2) The little mattress is putting strain on my hips.

Any tips, tricks, or advice? We have a queen bed with no chance of buying a new one anytime soon.

:hug  Can your dh sleep with ds on the floor to get him used to it??  But, 4.5hours the first time isn't too bad.  Can you do his naps there too so he can get more used to it?

I can't move him for naps. He's too heavy! :lol  He naps on the couch right now (because it's easiest for me to get him to sit still there next to me)

I'll bring that up to DH.  I guess the 4.5 hours was a fluke or something because now we're averaging 2...

After he wakes up, what do you do?  Do you let him into your bed, or do you (or your dh) lay down with him on the mattress to sleep?  If you're letting him into the bed, he probably won't learn to sleep on the mattress, but if you start gently requiring him to sleep on the mattress, he may start doing longer stretches.  The first 3-4nights might be really tough, and you'll be really tired (if your dh can help that would be good - maybe do it on a weekend?), but if you require him to stay in his bed until, say, 7am and then let him into bed with you - he might do longer stretches in his bed.  IDK, just an idea.
