So we have never a single time had our 3yo watch TV.  We're just not a TV family - we have one in the basement, but it doesn't get any channels and we didn't have a DVD player or anything, so it's basically a big paper weight :)  So the other day there was a free DVD player on freecycle and I thought to myself "mmm...maybe my 3yo would like to watch a fun movie with her au pair as a special treat."  I'm not totally opposed to TV as a fun group activity.  So I selected "Finding Nemo" and they sat down to watch it.  Within 10 minutes she was up playing with her brother and I and totally ignoring the TV.  Hooray!  Any other no-TV parents out there?  What are you philosophies about TV watching - why do you not have your children watching TV?
