How do you cycle your seasonal books?

In the past I have changed books with the solstice and mark of the official season change. However as I was reading The Story of the Wind Children last night to my daughter I realized that we are a bit further along in fall (perhaps even closer to winter) than scenes in the book.

I am just wondering how others do this. Thanks.

Been wondering this too and at what point seasonal/nature tables change.  Gradual progression as in nature perhaps?

I've thought about this as well. Living in the Chicago area, it doesn't seem to make sense to wait until the solstice because it gets quite cold/dark and the leaves have been gone for some time now. I already have all of our winter books from the library and we have begun reading them. It wasn't really planned, but it did make sense both because of the weather (even though it has been very mild thus far) and simply because my DD seemed to be tired of the autumn books. Plus I do Ike to stay ahead of the season a bit to lend a sense of anticipation for what is to come but, for a different parent/child pair, that approach may not be effective. We will also start reading more holiday books after thanksgiving which will probably put our winter books not eh back burner for a while making them feel fresh again after the holidays.

We switch with the first snow fall that sticks (like if it snows then goes away no, but once we get the snow that stays for the winter) so at the beginning of November, sometimes October.  We switch to fall in the beginning of sept, end of August, but we just live where it is cold the majority of the year.  I think if I lived somewhere where it was warmer I would use the solstice/equinox.  I do have 2 sets of winter books as we have a VERY long winter (oct/nov to april) so that we can have some variety.
