Our 6 month old cat has always sounded like he has asthma. He wheezes. I rescued him from a literal 'cat lady' who housed more than 50 cats, the conditions were not horrible, but pretty bad. So, I'm thinking he may have not had the best start in life. He's up to date on his vax and the vet did an exam. I've never had a cat who sounded so congested, but, he seems healthy and is very active and happy, so I guess I shouldn't worry..or should I?

Was he congested when the vet saw him? Cats can have chronic sniffles and some even have full blown asthma, but you'd need a vet to diagnose.
I know that our vet suggested lysine and dmg for our boy when he appeared to have chronic sniffles from a bad uri. After a few months he no longer needed the supplements.
My cat has the same thing- cronic sniffles and sneezing. Two vets (my own, and the one from the shelter we got her from) say it's kitty cat asthma irritated by kitty allergies. Sometimes... she's so gross. She sneezes on us and most of the time has some kind of runny nose. I've been wondering, also, if I should worry. (I'm actually trying to rehome her, but nobody wants a "sick" cat.)
