I found this: http://www.brighthub.com/environment/green-living/articles/28956.aspx
and this: http://www.diaperswappers.com/forum/showthread.php?t=227639 the other day. Try searching "recycled wool longies." It looks really easy as long as you felt the sweater first. Good luck!

You don't always want to felt the sweater first, sometimes (as I found out) they end up too small.

Using that Diaperswappers tut, sometimes the hip is too small. You can cut into the shoulder of the sweater, making the shoulder seams come up as a V in the crotch after sewn. Once again, use a pair of pants that fit to get a good fit. I'll see if I can take some pics, I need to make a few more pair (we don't always use them as diaper covers, they make the best PJ's in the winter, and really thin fine guage sweaters work well as long johns, wool long johns run about $30, I got a sweater at goodwill for $2.50).
