1st postpartum cycle, heavy and clots

Is this normal? I feel like I am passing blood clots and bleeding a lot! I am starting to get worried, but have never had a first postpartum cycle yet until now. DD is 4 months and I stopped lochia 4 weeks postpartum.

Yes, it can be normal.....my m/w's told me that as long as I didn't soak thru a pad in less than an hour I was fine..... I also had huge clots my first pp cycle with ds, which lasted for almost a week.. I even had horrible pains that would stop me in my tracks, almost like I was in labor but then I passed the clot, it looked almost like a piece of tissue. I called the m/w because I remember her saying that my placenta was falling apart when I birthed it after ds was born. But she said that as long as the bleeding had let up and that the pains stopped that everything was fine....And it was. In fact that bleeding pretty much stopped by the end of that day.
