Keeping Chicken feed tidy

How do you feed your chickens so that the feed stays tidy and not strewn all over the place?  We're experiencing a rat problem this year.....ugh, it just creeps me out.

Thanks for any advice!

Get muscovy ducks to take care of the rats.

Are you feeding pellets or crumbles or something else?  Coop or free range?  In general chickens keep their pellets tidier and strew about the crumbles.

I give the hens pellets in the coop. I throw some scratch in the run when I let them out. Put some snap traps around with something yummy on them for the rats.

The chickens are in their coop in the am and free range in the afternoon.

We feed a ground feed that we buy from a local farmer.

What do the muscovy ducks do to take care of the rats?  I'm intrigued....I know someone who has some....it may be an option!
