12 Weeks Pregnant and Thyroid Questions

Thread Starter

My OB just called and said that some of my blood work came back worrisome and they were referring me to an endocrinologist (the OB doctor did not call in any kind of prescription).  But the endocrinologist can't get me in for a month and I don't know how worried I should be!!!

My results (with the lab's "normal" ranges):

TSH-.018 (normal .45-4.5)

T3-23 (normal 24-39)

T4-18.4 (normal 4.5-12)

I will say I have been extremely fatigued, but I kept blaming it on the first trimester.  I've been searching the web, but there's a lot of confusing info out there (including some scary info on what it can do to developing fetus).  What do you ladies think of my numbers?  How worried should I be?  And do you think I'm ok to wait another month!??!

Thanks!!

Edited to Add: I'm also taking Zofran for severe morning sickness.  I wonder if that plays a role?

Hi there,  I actually don't know that much about normal numbers (it has been way too long ago that I remember mine), but I know that I had low numbers all the way until I was 20 weeks pregnant and my dd is awesome!

I was hypothyroid when I got pregnant and on synthroid, but my dr said my levels were off when I got a blood test at 9 weeks... well I upped my meds and retested every 2 weeks and literally chased my levels for 11 weeks.  That is every time the results came back low I took a higher dose and several weeks later they were still low and on and on until finally at 20 weeks my levels were 'normal'.

I had symptoms of low thyroid the entire 20 weeks, but not bad.  Fatigue etc.... mixed with pregnancy I really didn't notice too much and had no issues per se.

I can't believe your OB can't just be more specific?  And I would not wait a month for a visit.  Call around until you find someone willing to see you.  And your OB can run the blood tests and have a collegue look at them.... the system is soooo stupid.
