Frustrated - exercises that have gotten rid of your pooch?!

I run, I do the ellipitical, I do intervals when needed, I do weights, I do scissor crunches, side lying crunches, one leg squats, etc., etc.,  You name it, I've probably done it.  Oh and I eat right and am on a low carb diet.  Grrrrr..... But the pooch is still there and even worse the lump of fat right above my rump - whatever that's called - is still there, too.  Do I need to be doing ab exercises EVERYDAY to make this go away?  I'm starting to get frustrated because I feel that if I can shed these areas of my body, I can lose the 8lbs that I've been trying to lose for a couple of months now.  I'm 5'7" and have been stuck at 138lbs for a while now.  I'd like to be at 130lbs by the New Year.

Thoughts?  Ideas? Suggestions?

I wish.  I'm fairly thin and, right now, am in pretty good shape.  I don't think my stomach will ever be completely flat again.  And the love handles, those are just awful.  They have gotten smaller as I've gotten in better shape, but they're still there.

I don't have any advice.  Keep doing what you're doing though.  Maybe try a new workout to shake things up?

If it's loose skin, only surgery can get rid of it.  That's why I'm giving serious thought to abdominoplasty...

Yeah, I'm thinking I should probably get in to something more aerobic.  But the gym that I currently belong to doesn't offer that.  It's in the basement of the buliding that I work in and it's do whatever you want plus it's free. thumb.gif  My legs look great, though - the best they ever have.  I can't wait to wear shorts next year!! I haven't worn shorts in 15 years.

It's not loose skin.  I can flatten it with my hands and therefore that leads me to believe it's fat. I don't think my insurance would cover abdominoplasty. :(

Try pilates or yoga. Planks help. I am in the same boat as you.(5'7". 134 lbs) After my son was born, my stomach went back flat as a board. After my daughter, though, I am still trying to get back all the way flat and she's almost 10 months old. For me, I have taken an ultimate fitness class at my gym and it has helped a LOT. We use TRX suspension cables, so basically any exercise we do is working our core as well. It's awesome! And fun! Oh, and we do sit ups, too. Not crunches, all the way sit ups. Just hook your feet under something to anchor yourself, and do as many as you can for 1 mintues, several times a day.

Good Luck!

Awesome.  Thanks for the tips!  I could certainly do those in our bedroom before bedtime.  Yeah, my youngest is 8.5 months and while I'm lighter than I was after DS1 was born, we're done having kids and I want to get in to tip top shape.  Hopefully I'll be able to join DH's gym after the first of the year - they have a TON more to offer including classes and much more equipment than mine does.  Right now, it's matter of finances and being committed.

You are better off than I am!  I haven't even started a program and DD is 17 mo.  With DS at this age, I weighed 10 lbs less than when I got pregnant!  I's a totally different ball game with DD.  I have got to get my a&& in gear.

Ha, I'm the same except it's the little sag at the bottom of my butt rather than the belly pooch. From the body builders I've talked to, those last little fat stores are EXTREMELY difficult to lose, and once you do, maintaining it is hellish. I vacillate between wanting to just let go of my 'dream of a perfect derriere' and feeling motivated to just go all out and try to do it. I work HARD, harder than anyone I know, and I STILL have that little fat pocket that bugs the carp outta me. So, no advice, just commiseration.
