I would like to use a daybed as a couch. It will be much much much more economical to buy a twin mattress or futon without chemical flame retardants and make some back pillows than buy an organic couch. I want one that is all wood. I have been looking for a used one with no luck and when I look at the new ones online it is hard to tell what is pressed wood or cheaply made and what is quality wood furniture. Â Anyone have any suggestions? I would like it to have a back to lean the back pillows on. Â Oh, I am totally up for making cushions but don't want to build the thing. Thanks!

I would look at a couple of places and contact the companies and see if they can tweak their plans to work:
Â
Â
Has a nice sleigh bed w/ a day bed option. Maybe they could add a back to it?

Other place I like for natural furniture is

Again, you'd have to see if they could adapt something. Or show something you like to a local carpenter and have them build it, but not finish it - the two places I mentioned have low VOC options, I think - most people will just use whatever the big box sells....
Â
If you get a platform bed, I'd think you might want the slats placed a little more closely to help with support, and check measurements - maybe getting an XL might work better than a twin.Â

Hey I just got a catalog in the mail and thought of you:

This sounds like just about what you're looking for. Not cheap, but maybe you could work something out? We do have one of the latex noodle pillows, my daughter loves it. I would think twice if you have latex allergies in the family, though.Â
Â
The frame is available separately, too.....
