DS wants to stay on the potty all day!

So we have started PL'ing finally.  Previously DS had NO interest and refused to go near either the Bjorn potty or the potty seat over the toilet.  Finally he is interested but it is now in the other direction.  He wants to be on the potty ALL.THE.TIME nut.gif

And of course he wants to use TP like it's neverending.  Should I just let him do his thing?  I hate to limit him and ruin what we have going as he is doing lots of pees on the potty.

Help!

Well, since it's likely going to be just a stage then for the time being I would suggest not trying to stop anything. It's a novel new thing, even though he's been introduced to it before, and eventually it will wear off.

I know it.  I just think I didn't want to spend my evenings in the bathroom.  Meh, it's safe in there, how much damage could he do? (ha!)

Although my DD (23 months) does not generally want to spend all the time in the potty she sometimes will and is known for using it as a way to get out of things, b/c she knows its the activity that trumps all others.  So, if its time to go to bed she'll sit on the potty for a looong time to avoid going to bed, or cleaning up, etc.  This was a difficult choice b/c I don't want to discourage her from using the potty.  When there are times that it gets to be too much i set a timer.  She repsonds much better to a timer than to me telling her its time to get off he potty.  However, b/c I don't want her to feel pressured I only use it after she has refused to get off for a pretty long amount of time, and only at those times that its imperative we move on.  For times when she wants to sit on the potty for a while I go about my business and check on her every like 30 seconds, if I'm gonna be up and about or I bring a book and sit in the bathroom while she hangs out and does her thing.  My hubby thinks its cute to see me and DD both sitting in the bathroom (her on the toilet, me on the floor) both "reading" books.  This actually has the effect of giving me a bit of down time.
