Support your child by feeding him nourishing foods, giving cell salts, and restoring balance with homeopathy.
Â
How old is he?
Â
Find a way to explain the rules for the park before you go. Involve him in coming up with ways for him to express his frustration in an appropriate way.
Â
"If another kid is bothering you, you can tell me and I will help you."
Â
"If you need a break from the park or the kids, tell me and we can go for a walk or go home."
Â
Decide in advance what will happen if he hits or blocks other children from playing. "The playground is a place for lots of children to play. If you want space all to yourself, we can play at home or at Grandma's."
Â
"All children need to feel safe at the playground. You can always ask me for help. If you hit another child, we will go home so that everyone can feel safe."
Â
Depending on age and behavior, removing him for a few minutes may be enough. If the behavior is severe, take your child home.
Â
Be clear that this is not punishment, but a way to keep the other children safe. At home (or immediately, in the car), listen to his story. Find out what about it is upsetting him. That way you will know how to proceed.
Â
Right now, the hitting is just a form of communication. Communication is necessary. He needs to learn to communicate whatever the behavior is saying in an appropriate way.
