would like something he can "pull" on and off, but that also offers the convenience  of snaps for changing poopies. Suggestions?Â

looking for cloth training pants with snaps for 3 yo DS
It's technically a diaper, but I've used it for toilet training: MotherEase Sandy's fitteds.
Pros: Side snaps are very adjustable to pull up and down with some or all snaps done up, but can undo totally for a poopy mess. Easy to wash. Inexpensive, relatively speaking. Airflow covers are an excellent match and can be used for out of the house in the same way (pull up already snapped). Come in a ToddleEase size, too. Come in colours, and the covers have a few prints that might appeal to a toddler or older kid (animals).
Cons: It is a diaper, and your kid might not want to see it as training underwear instead (but that might apply to any side-snapping trainer). If it feels like a diaper when worn, it might be hard to remember not to pee in it (one of mine had this issue when we were only potty-training part-time).
Hope that helps!

http://getantsy.com/index.html Antsy Pants! These look like just what you're looking for. I was looking at the site, and this is the "Standard Package" for children 2 years and up http://getantsy.com/Antsy-Pants-Standard-Package.html . They sell individual ones, too, but I didn't look all over the site (DD is only 13 months old, so we don't need these quite yet!). Hope this helps! :)
The only side-snapping ones we have are Little Beetle. They are cute colours and supersoft organic cotton. However they are relatively thin compared to others like the Imse Vimse (which we love but are not side snapping). So I dont recommend them if you are looking for something that will absorb the whole wee. They will hold in all the dirties though.Â

No experience with them myself, but Bumbledoo and Diapeze both make training pants that close on the sides (Bumbledoos snap; Diapeze use aplix).
