solo UCers Who "deliverd" Baby?

We are going to file for the birth certificate tomorrow.  With DS's UC DH was there and though he didn't do much was recorded as the person who "delivered" DS.  With DD2 I birth her alone (with DD1 in the room)  I'm wondering if I could possibly be put on the birth certificate as delivering her myself or does it for some reason have to be someone other than myself?

That's a really good question.  I'd just put yourself...the mom always delivers the baby, unless you have a hospital rape, or a c-section.

For my UC birth I put myself as the "delivering attendant" my husband was in the room but I wanted the credit and I also wanted to stick it to the man.

he he I liked that you wanted to stick it to the man :D I was thinking about what I was going to put on the paperwork when the time came.

I wanted the credit to with my last UC (especially since DH was being an ass during the birth) but they seemed to want someone other than myself.  She asked who caught the baby.  I said me so she asked who cut the cord.  We have the same lady this time ans she's giving us the run around like we can't get a birth certificate without a doctor (which we both know is BS)  I don't think I will let DH be on the birth certificate as the one how delivered.  But DS1 was there so maybe she delivered the baby LOL!

I put my myself, but they wanted the name of a professional and sent it back to me with an "Unassisted at home birth" kit! They even had a file set aside for it and everything. ;)

What the want is the attending physician or care provider, I think for the purpose of stats... so without that just leave it blank. They may call or write you to confirm you meant to leave it blank, but they can't take it with your name on it.

(FTR: I'm in BC Canada so my answer my only apply to our province).

I got the run around when applying for birth certificate as well.........But I was the only one home and I did it all by myself so they finally realized that/..............It worked out pretty smoothly...They do not here our stories enough to even believe someone would plan that kind of birth

I haven't been given any trouble. I just listed myself and they didn't say anything about it. With my 6y/o they challenged me on it and I just said that I was alone when she was born. They accepted that and asked out of curiosity if I didn't make it to the hospital. I just said yes and left it open like that, and I let them draw their own conclusions.
