eyes won't stop watering - help!

Any idea why an eye would start watering and keep doing so for days?  It's not so bad that it looks like I'm crying, but I need to dab my eyes with a tissue every couple of minutes.  When I yawn it's horrible!  My eyes are not any more red than they usually are.  I have noticed some random itching, but not constant.  It's  been going on since Sunday.  What could it be?

ETA - it's really only my left eye that's a problem, not both.

My eyes started watering really bad like you describe, then I came down with a cold.   A few days after the cold set in (coughing, runny nose, congestion)

i got pink eye!!  Could you be coming down with a cold??

Ack!  I already have a cold, on the tail end of it I hope/think.  DS has had a cold since the second week of October and the doc is treating it as a sinus infection now.  I just mentioned this off hand to my coworker who said "I've got the same thing!!"  Wouldn't my eyes be more red, etc if it was pink eye?
