Hi there from So. MD! (we're in Hollywood). If you want low intervention, I wouldn't suggest our area hospital (St. Mary's). Unless something has changed since I had my son, there aren't any midwife options in the area (BirthCare says they won't come this far for a home birth, though I do know of one mom who convinced them otherwise). I had my son w/Special Beginnings. I ended up having to transfer to the hospital (Anne Arundel Medical Center), and I was very happy with the care we received from both my midwives and the medical staff at AAMC. If we have any other children, I'll use Special Beginnings again. The only downside was it is a 1 hour & 15 min drive--or more--from our home. You can plan to tack on another half hour to that if you're traveling from St. Inigoes. I was comfortable with this (though it wasn't comfortable in the back of the car in labor on the way to the birth center! LOL!), but of course it's something you'll have to consider. If you have really fast labors it might not be an option for you.
