advice needed 4 YO with asthma- should we get flu shot b/c of airplane travel?

Hi all :-)

so, we do most of the vaxes but delay them all... although we've never done the flu shot.  This year we had planned on doing it b/c my daughter has asthma (ER visits twice for low O2-not flu) and we are traveling mid December on an airplane and to a VERY people filled place (a certain place in Florida).

So we were actually scheduled for today but she has a fever- they rescheduled us for 6 days before our travel plans...I think it takes longer than that for the shot to be effective no?  I guess I'm wondering if we should even bother getting it at this point?  sigh...I reaaaaaaaly don't want to give it to her or our 2 year old boy, but I also hate seeing my little girl laying in a hospital bed.  WDYT? TIA mamas!

Yeah usually they say you need two weeks to build up antibodies.

Sileree- Thanks I had not seen that.  I'm thinking we may just pass and "Clean Well" them up :-)  It's so hard to know what to do anymore with all of the info and research available- but if I listen to my gut it says..."don't do it"
