Anyone have a child who correctly knew the baby's sex?

I am 19 weeks pg with #4, and my 3.5 you ds has been adamant this entire pg that the baby is a girl.  Every time you ask him, never mind the order of boy or girl, and he will say girl.  If I ask him what my boy baby is doing, he will first correct me by saying girl baby and then go on to tell me what he thinks SHE is doing.

I'm just wondering if he has some kind of intuition about the babe and how common that is.  We will find out next week if baby cooperates, but I'm getting impatient as we get close!  I also worry a bit about how he will react if it is a boy, since he is so sure it's a girl.

Any similar stories out there?  Opposite stories?

yup, annie was right about having a little sister. the way i see it though.. she had a 50/50 chance of getting it right, not necessarily intuition or anything.

When we starting trying to catch the "O train" to Preggoland, I bought some cute little girl shoes that were on sale and put them on our altar at home and hoped that we would have a girl so she could wear them.

When this pregnancy started off differently and I had the morning-noon-night sickness from hell, I seriously started suspecting something was a little different.

Because I was seriously curious, I took one of the at-home tests, which said BOY. I was disappointed a little, but didn't put much stock it in because it was for fun anyway.

We waited for the ultrasound, got our name picks hammered out, and lo and behold, when kiddo flashed the goods, it was a girl. :)

So I guess I was right... or at least the bunch-o-hunches were. :)

We all thought boy this time around, but my 2 year old was adamant about baby being a girl.........  according to ultrasound, she is right!

My 5yo has been right this time, and with my previous pregnancy.  With my previous pregnancy, she really wanted a baby sister, though, so I wasn't sure how accurate her prediction was.  But by 30 weeks, I just knew she was right.  I could feel that she was a girl.

I think it depends on the child.  My son has guessed wrong with nearly every pregnancy since he was old enough to speak up.

My 8yo told me I was having twins this time, as soon as I told her I was pregnant.  I have no idea how she knew.  The only thing she remembers about my last pregnancy is the birth.  I asked her last night (since we confirmed twins yesterday) how she knew, and she said, "I could just tell by you, and how you were."  So I have no idea what that means!LOL

She is definitely my most sensitive child.  She has super sensitive feelings, and is very empathetic of others' feelings.  So perhaps she could actually sense the two babies in there, I don't know.  But I do think it's neat that she knew.:-)

My 5 year old correctly guessed that my 2 year old was a girl, and this time she insisted that the baby is a "brudder", and according to the u/s she is correct again!

DD (2.5) insists "boy"... I guess we'll find out. She told me I was pregnant before I got the positive test, but I think that was just part of her general obsessed-with-babies phase, not intuition.

DD was right about her brother being a brother orngtongue.gif

My midwife said that anecdotally, she has seen siblings be right a big majority of the time in predicting the sex (she's actually considering doing some sort of research study about this!).  She said it has to be a young child (the older they get, the less they are right), and she totally believes in some sort of intuition that we lose as we age.  Her exact words (after DD told her she's going to have a baby brother during one of my appointments), were "ok, it's settled.  If this baby is not a boy, I'm going to eat my hat".

Thankfully, she didn't have to!

My 3 year old was adamant that she was having a sister... we didn't have an u/s this time around. Anytime you asked her what kind of baby was in there she'd say a girl... sometimes she'd talk about her sister. She'd refer to the baby as pink or purple, sometimes yellow lol... not sure what that means but perhaps how she identifies gender herself? Anyway... baby was born a week ago today, my daughter was right.... She had a sister. ♥

My son is 3 and has been very certain that the baby in my belly was a girl from very early on. You couldn't convince him otherwise, and he would get angry with you if you suggested that it could be a boy/little brother. Judging by the ultrasound, he was right!

well this is encouraging.. ds1 has said the baby was a girl since day one... he has thought maybe a boy a few times but usually that is after me talking about that the baby could be a boy and we have to be prepared for that

DS is 5 and he is also very adamant that this baby is a girl. We won't know until the birth, though. But he will be the one announcing the gender...when s/he comes out and is on my chest, DS will be the one to officially look and tell everyone if it's a boy or a girl. Perhaps he already knows and is just announcing it early. :) Or it could just be wishful thinking on his behalf.

DS is very much the same way. He's incredibly smart at locking into others' feelings and acting accordingly. Perhaps he's also intuitive like your daughter...I hope so because I want a girl anyway. Haha.

nak

dd saidshe dint are if baby is boy or girl but always went to baby dresses when shopping... and yes, mae is a girl!!!

This is funny, it seems like almost all the kids were right!

DS insists the baby is a girl. I'm only 12 weeks pregnant and we may or may not be finding out before birth. Every time I ask sister or brother, he says "SISTER!" If I say, what if it's a brother, he says "I don't mind" or "It can be a brother if you want." Like he's letting me know that he's fine either way, but mom, it IS a sister. lol.gif We'll see if he's right I guess!

All these stories are great!  I wonder if lots of young kids have this intuition, maybe we lose it as we get older?

We will find out on Wed is ds has been right about his 'girl baby'.  It would certainly make dd happy, she has proclaimed that she is done with brothers!

DS is insistent that this baby is a boy. We won't find out until baby gets here in July, but we'll see! Looks like the likelihood of him being right is actually pretty high...

With DS I only had one 12 week u/s. Too early to see the sex. Still when I was kicked hard I called him by name. I knew he was a boy without the u/s and we were right.

This time I've waffled on the gender, but I've settled into the thought that it's a girl based on DH's dream a week before my last exam where he saw it was a big baby, born early and a girl with a full head of hair. The next week (last week) I had an exam that told us the baby is big - a week ahead - and that said it's due early (though no change on due date yet) and that the heartbeat went from 150 beats to 160. Lately I've been feeling it's a girl. DS dreamed and said it's a girl, so we'll see. Early on I had some slips saying 'your sister' when I usually say your brother or sister. That too made me stop and think that maybe it's just instinct and intuition kicking in again.

Sometime in Jan we will get an u/s around 22 weeks (vacation puts it off a bit) and will hopefully know if we are right.
