Help!! 'For the love of yarn baby kimono'! Sleeve help :(

Im trying to knit this baby kimono and am done with both the front sides and the back side but i cannot figure out the sleeves..

http://www.fortheloveofyarn.com/Issues/07Winter/patterns/winter07_kimono.shtml

Here is the pattern.

Ive never done sleeves before so im very confused..

At top in the notes it says 'sleeves are picked up from the shoulder down where there is still attached yarn/ball.

The pattern doesnt say in the sleeve area what needles to use, im guessing its just straight needles since it doesnt say otherwise :(

Any knitters that can help?

Thanks!

Hi, saw your post, thought I'd help you out.  The design notes are just referring to the direction the sleeve is knit up (some pattens are knit upwards, this one is knit from the shoulder down).  The actual directions say this:

SLEEVES: With right side facing, measure 5(5 1/2, 6)" down from shoulder on each side of seam, and place markers. Pick up and knit 42(48,52) sts evenly between markers. Working in st st, dec 1 st each end of every 5th row 6(7,8) times: 30(34,36) sts remain. Work 6 rows in garter st. Bind off.

The finishing notes say:

Finishing:

Lightly block sweater. Sew side/sleeve seam from cuff to 3 1/2"(4, 4 1/2)" above cast on. Firmly sew one tie to each front edge were garter-eyelet band begins, and to side where seam ends.

Which would indicate that you are two use straight needles b/c you will later sew the seams together.  Does that make it clearer?  Feel free to ask any other questions you have :)
