Middle name help? Elliana...

Hi Ladies,

We really like the name Elliana but cannot for the life of us come up with a middle name.  The closest we have come is Grace, but that's SIL's name and I just dont dig SIL that much so it's off the table.

Any ideas?

I think a single syllable name would be nice.  Do you have any criteria?   I like Faith, Jane, Dawn, Rose and Joy.

Elliana Ivy

Elliana Joy

Elilana Mae

Elliana Ruth

How many syllables in the last name?

Any style preferences as to names you gravitate towards?

Thank you, sweet people!

Aforementioned SIL's middle name is Rose so that one is out.

Last name has 3 syllables, so long too, ends in an N..  No, super preferences.  Just something that isnt too long.

Is Elliana Sophia too many things ending in a?

I kinda like Elliana Mae because she is "due" in may.. but DH thinks Ellie Mae sounds kinds meh.

I vote for Joy.

My hebrew name is Eliana Ruth, so naturally I vote for Ruth!

Seriously - Joy is such a beautiful name.  I can't help but smile just saying it!

We LOVE Elliana - it's such a beautiful name! I vote for a single-syllable middle name. Not sure what your style is though.

The name Elliana itself is related to the sun.....daughter of the sun or something like that. smile.gif

My first thoughts were names with two syllables...Keona Elizabeth is long, too, and Elliana Joy (or any other single syllable name) seems like her name would be so short and cut off.

The one that popped into my head was
Elliana Celeste.

I also like:
Elliana Mary
Elliana Aisling (Ashlyn)
Elliana Rachel

Rae or Renee would be nice.  Rain or Sky would work, too.  Leigh or Marie are sort of simple and pretty names that go well with lots of first names, too.

A two syllable name would work too.  The name we picked if this baby is a girl is 4 syllables and the middle name we picked is Celeste.

Elliana is on our shortlist!

Our daughter's middle name is Gracyn (Grace-in)...don't know if that's still too close to your SIL.  We chose it because it was still Grace-like, but different.  Obviously we think its beautiful, but so are many of the other suggestions so far.

Eliana is a lovely name. Why not choose the name of a respected ancestor or loved relative as a middle name? To me, a name with significance is far more important than how the two names sound together, since basically no one will ever use the mn anyway. (For example, for one of my boys, we picked the name of the first person on dh's side of the family to come here from the Old Country. Don't know a thing about him, but we wanted to honor the huge leap of faith he took.)

Thank you, Ladies..it really helped to get some suggestions!  You are all so sweet for offering me so many!

After mulling it over and over.. and somehow missing that two people in this thread suggested Hope..

That's the one we both like.

Elliana Hope..

Elliana means "God answered me".. with Hope :)  and that he definitely did.
