On the way home fro, school, DS said he wished he had a wish bone, b/c you get everything you for if you have one.  I was a bit flustered and at a lose about how to explain that A) no, you don't get everything you wish for, and B) a wish bone is a greasy thing from inside a dead bird.

has anyone else had to explain the wish bone?

Why don't you bake a cookie in the shape of a wishbone. You can even hold the ends and break it to make a wish. Best part you get to eat it afterward. A) how old is your son? my son is 3 and thinks you get whatever you wish for if you wish on a birthday cake. We just didn't tell him he has to keep it a secret so he tells us his wish and we make sure it comes true. Usually it's for birthday cake lol. When he found a 4-leaf clover we told him he could make a wish and he wished for a hug and a kiss. It doesn't hurt to keep the magic alive while he's young. B) Look up a picture of a bird skeleton on line to show him where it comes from anatomy lesson it's a birds collar bone you can have him feel his own "wishbone".
