how long do you keep making milk?

DD stopped latching (that's a story for another time!) about 2 months ago, I stopped pumping about a month ago.  I can still squeeze out drops and sometimes I have a (little tiny) let down in the morning.  Normal?  Thanks!

Yup, normal.  The more you test to see if there's milk, the more likely you are to keep making some drops too winky.gif   (stimulation).

 

Some Mamas make milk for years after weaning.

A LLLI counsellor that I met told me that she had been for a mammogram in her 50's nearly 20 years after BF her last child and the radiologist was able to show her milk still in her milk ducts on the scan. I suspect that you never lose the ability to produce milk in response to enough stimulation? I have read that there are cultures where it's not unusual for grandmothers to step in and nurse their grandchildren if the mother is unable to.
