And what alternatives do I have as far as medical tests? Â Do bring him to an allergist to see what foods/ things he is allergic to? Â I remember some test where I was pricked/injected countless times as a child and I really don't want that for my kid. Â

Is there a reason why you need to see an allergist? What types of reactions is your child having? If they are reacting with hives, I would keep a food journal of foods that they eat so that you can link that to observed reactions.

I would see a pediatric allergist. In our appointment, they only tested for food that E was showing reactions to. There are two types of tests-skin prick tests and RAST tests which are blood tests for IgE-specific antibodies to particular foods. There can be lots of false positives but fewer false negatives
