I'm looking for a good sturdy longie yarn for my movin' and shakin' 15 mo. I want something that won't pill or felt too easily, and I'd prefer no mohair content. I have a sweater made from Peace Fleece, and I think it's just a bit too scratchy to be next to the skin because of the mohair. Basic solid colors are fine, I like to dye my own anyway, so I'd rather not pay out the nose for fancy hand dyed stuff. Ready, go!

Lamb's Pride is usually moth-proofed, I don't like that. I like Cestari, Targhee, Mountain Meadow, Beaverslide, Blackberry Ridge, and most hand spun's are pretty durable. Merino is usually too soft, licorice twist ditto. Purewool (3 ply) is hit and miss, the yarn is cheaper, but the work is worth a lot (even if you do it yourself) so if they tear them up it's very sad. Cascade has held up moderately well for sweaters and such, but I've never used it for more than trim on longies and shorties.Â

I'm pretty sure you could use anything on soakers if the soaker is covered by something else.Â
Â
We have one pair of BFL longies that have held up better than I ever expected, but it's felting a lot in the gussett area, however they have no snags. Super soft, though.
Â
Our one pair of Peace Fleece shorties have been the best for holding up, and have fit for the longest. They are scratchier than anything else we own, but wow, those things are bullet proof. Never a pill (and I do have pills on the cestari and targhee, but it took a long time for them to show up) and never a snag. They are fine for the park. I have 2 more skeins that I've been planning on making some longies with.

Do you have any brands you like for those breeds? So many wool yarns don't tell you what breed they got the wool from, my searches on ravelry aren't turning up much.Â
