REALLY Dry scalp and yet oily hair

I have been dealing with this for awhile and it is driving me nuts!

I feel like I have tried everything...the tar shampoo, traditional dandruff shampoos, tea tree oil, rosemary oil, etc.

Basically, I have very dry skin, extremely flaky on my scalp and then my hair will get really oily about 1-2 inches from the root. So annoying. So when I have put coconut oil etc on the scalp, it seems to help my scalp, but then my hair is so oily and it takes forever to get it out.

Ugh! Suggestions?

TIA!

Yuck - I had this problem, too. My scalp issues were form candida, so I had to deal with that to heal my scalp. It was not simple and I still have to stay on top of it, but as long as I follow my diet and take my supplements it is fine. The greasiness I fixed by switching to no-poo (no - shampoo), where I use a paste of baking soda to scrub my scalp, rinse, and then rinse with a splash of apple cider vinegar in water. I do this only about twice a week or less and that is all I do to my hair.

I have been wondering about candida. I am pretty ignorant about it, will need to look into it.

I will have to try the baking soda stuff.

What is your diet like?

I appreciate you responding!

I am now gluten, dairy, soy, egg, and sugar free. I would love to have some dairy back  - I actually can tolerate small amounts but dd is VERY sensitive to trace dairy. I like Healing By Bee for candida help (although I didn't do her diet, it has good info) and there is also a great thread in the TF forum:
