I did it!!! WOOT WOOT!!!

I completly decluttered 75% of my clothes... I decided, after wearing uncomfortable and unflattering clothes to work this week, that I'd rather wear the same thing over and over and have what I love rather than wearing things I dislike. I have 2 garbage bags full of clothing to donate. I am not even going to try a yardsale. We are moving and a fresh start is fabulous!!! I do need to add a few things to my wardrobe to make it more workable. Here is what I am adding, slowly:

  1. Pencil Skirt
  2. White shirt
  3. Blue denim shirt
  4. Tall black boots
  5. Black/Navy car coat
  6. Black kitten heels
  7. Blue Rain Boots
  8. Straight leg denim jeans
  9. Black leather jacket
  10. Fisherman striped shirt
  11. Navy Blazer
  12. White/black t-shirts
  13. 2 pair of work pants- black and navy blue
  14. 1 black pinstripe suit with black silk/cottong blouse

I have them in a priority listing in my purse. I also have found the place I want to buy them from and how much. I figure if I buy exactly what I want, it is money well spent. I have to look professional for work. There is no business casual for me.

Here is what I kept:

1. Cuffed black work pants

2. Grey tweed skirt w/belt

3. Red boots

4. Cowgirl boots

5. White converse sneakers

6. 1 black jacket, 1 khaki jacket, 1 dark khaki jacket

7. 1 black t-shirt

8. 1 black blouse

9. 1 pink scarf

10. Green trench coat

11. 1 pink wind breaker, 2 pairs of workout pants/3 t-shirts, 1 black fleece, walking sneakers

12. 1 winter coat- once I get my car coat, this will go

13. 1 jean jacket

14. 1 pair khaki pants

15. brown loafers, 1 pair black flats, green boat shoes

16. 1 red purse, 1 dark pink purse

17. 2 pairs of shorts

18. 5 around the house t-shirts (mostly my college t-shirts and 1 my son bought me. love.gif  )

19. bathing suit

20. pair of pj's

21. 2 silk type tanks tops

22. 2 black cotton tank tops

23. belt

24. 2 summer skirts

25. Grey sweater

socks, undies, bras- need new bras, 6 necklaces, wedding ring, cocktail ring, 2 bracelets and 4 pairs of earrings.

So far, this is is pretty good for me. I have to work with what I have some more but it's looking better. I found my base of black, white, grey, khaki and navy are working quite well. The red/pink items are my pops of color.

Good job, sometimes it's hard to do that much paring, but when you have pieces that all look good together (a black skirt, a white blouse, etc) you have way more outfits than clothes!  Whoo hoo!

Thank you!!

I forgot to add, I still have a "for now" pile because I need clothes for work and I can't wear the same outfit all the time. As I replace, I will donate. It's been fun and once I got into, it was quite easy. Anyone else care to join in??? : )

Did the closet last week!  Might get to my shelves today or tomorrow.  :)  Of course, mine is easier, I wear scrubs to work and just occasionally need the business casual outfit.

I need to find the motivation to do this as well!  I started by weeding through clothes that were worn, unflattering, didn't fit and weren't something I cared to hang onto 'just in case', etc.  My postpartum body and my old wardrobe aren't working for me.  I didn't plan as well as you though and find that now I have plenty of clothes, but very few outfits. Especially for work, which is business casual but I can wear denim.  You've given me some inspiration to look at the pieces I have left and what I need...that way when I am shopping and find a good deal I am not adding to the problem but am adding to outfit possibilities. :)
