Need help with a middle name!

Thread Starter

We've pretty much decided the boy I'm due with any day will be named Silas, but we're stuck for a middle name. It was so easy with our first son -- the name came together early on, it flowed, and both first and middle names had meaning for us.

Anyway, here are some of the middle names we've been tossing around:

Silas David (DH's first name is David, though he only uses that with his family and work; everyone else including me calls him by a nickname)

Silas Alexander

Silas James

Silas Victor (Victor is my maternal grandfather's name -- he died when I was five so I don't remember much about him, but it might be meaningful to my mom, who helped fund the IVF that created this baby)

DH thinks that ideally the middle name should have two syllables, and I agree that when we "yell" at the kid it will be more emphatic that way ;) but I'm open.

And if anyone has any other ideas, please chime in!

Oh, and if anyone I know IRL is reading this, please don't post it on FB or anything. This is the first time I'm "telling" anyone about the names we're mulling over. :)

I like Silas Alexander, it's the only one on the list that flows to me.

If you are looking for other ideas, here are some other ones that I think might fit: Avery, Braden, Elijah, Eliot, Hayden, Hunter, Martin, Mason, Owen...

I prefer names with meaning, so I'd say go with David or Viktor. With middle names I don't care so much about 'flow', as most people aren't calling you child by their full name.

Victor, especially for the reason you stated.

I agree with Virginia884. Choose a middle name that is meaningful for you over one that "flows" better, since usually he won't be called by that.

We went with Silas James, and are pretty happy with it. :)
