14 mo using top teeth when nursing

My son recently started using his top teeth while nursing.  It's been about a month now and has almost become unbearable.  Weaning any time soon is not in the plan.  I have been using Lansinoh and asking him not to use his teeth and letting him know he's doing good when I notice he stops;  Beyond this, I am not sure what to do.  He doesn't use bottles but does use a sippy cup.

Any ideas why he might be doing this and also how I can help him stop?

Mine is doing the same thing. I am trying to be really aware of how he's latching and get him to really open cause I find that he does it more when he doesn't open wide and get a good amount of the nipple and areola. When I see him coming at me with that little tiny mouth, I pull him back and say, "Open big. AH AH AH!!!"

I also contacted a LaLeche League leader and she said it could be due to teething, ear infection, etc... so I'm hanging in there focusing on the fact that it's probably temporary.

My son just turned thirteen months and has a mouthful of teeth (12). Over the months he's gone through phases; biting, different latch, just various changes. It does seem temporary, so I can only give you that encouragement

My daughter's top teeth have been leaving indentations for almost a year now.  I can't stand it!  I will be checking back to see if there are more tips given as it is wearing on me.  She was also not latching on well, with so little breast in her mouth.  We talk about it and I try to explain that she needs to open wide and all of that but we haven't gotten anywhere.  Better luck to you!
