Waldorf doll for baby-ideas for the hair

I want to make my 9 month old a regular 13 inch doll like I made my 3 year old.  I was thinking of making really short hair and putting a hat over it, and taking the hat off when she's older.  But how could I stitch the hat on tight enough it would never be pulled off, and then not leave stitch marks when we do take it off?  I know it will be yanked on.  I don't want to make a sack doll or anything you normally make for a baby, I want it to be a limbed doll just like her sister's because I know she will want hers!

Any ideas?

This maker on etsy doesn't put hair on most of her dolls. She makes a bonnet or kerchief. I had her sew on the clothes and bonnet for my DDs doll with basting stitches -- they're secure for now, but will be easy to remove later. And I don't think you need to be worried about marks. Fabric is very resilient.

You might consider doing a crocheted cap of hair for the doll.  Then when she's older, you can hook the long hair in and voila, its a big girl doll ;)

I think the crocheted cap hair looks so sweet and cute like a real baby.  fuzzy short hair.  adorable.

That looks like a crochet cap with boucle yarn, ya know the curly stuff.  If you can do basic crochet you should be able to make it, all you need to do is crochet a circle in the round big enough to fit on the dolls head and then just sew it down really good and then like pp said you can hook long hair in later.  You can also just use regular wool yarn and crochet a cap but it won't have that curly look to it, there is a method of crochet you can do that will leave loops on the head while doing the cap, looks like cabbage patch hair, but I can't remember what it's called you should be able to do an online search to find the method, it might be more complicated than you want though if your not an experienced crochetr sp?  Hope this helps.
