DP's vehicle stinks. Sort of an exhaust/engine smell. We didn't notice it when he bought it, but once it warmed up and we started opening the windows it was unbearable for me. He had the exhaust looked at and they replaced a couple of things but nothing changed. I say it's dangerous and I won't ride in it, and won't let DD ride in it. He claims it's just engine smell and it's not anything to worry about. I bought a CO detector, nothing there, but I think that the fact it gives me headaches must mean something isn't right.
Does anyone have any experience with this? It's an older 4Runner, and the manual has warnings about not driving with the tailgate window open due to exhaust coming in. We obviously don't do that, but there is rust back there and the window seal doesn't look right.
